Unsure whether Swim School is right for your child? Read on to see some of the amazing benefits learning to swim can have for your child.

What are the benefits of joining a Swim School?

According to the World Health Organisation, swimming is the most complete sport that exists. It contributes to almost all bodily and mental aspects of our being, and its benefits are all-encompassing.

Water Safety

At United Swim School we understand that, unlike other sports, swimming is not seasonal. Water confidence is a year-round necessity.  Swimming is the one sport that has the potential to save lives and on average 400 people drown in the UK each yearThere is water all around us and so it is vitally important that children learn how to respect water as early as possible. Recent studies have shown that as a result of the pandemic 1,186,555 pupils are expected to leave primary school between 2021-22 and 2025-26 unable to swim 25 metres unaided. As a business, we are determined to help in any way we can to reduce this number and ensure children can enjoy a lifetime of safe water fun, and adventures.

Health Benefits

Beyond being a crucial life-saving skill, swimming is great for health and fitness. Being in the water is non-load bearing and reduces pressure on muscles and joints. The added resistance means you use more energy than you would out of the water, resulting in a full-body workout. Swimming also promotes a healthy heart and healthy lungs, teaching breath control and building strong respiratory muscles. It can even help asthma sufferers due to the breathing pattern that swimming requires.

Mental Health Benefits

At United Swim School we firmly believe that swimming is essential to building not just strong bodies but healthy minds too. Swimming is a great mood-lifting exercise and has been proven as a strong antidote for anxiety, depression, and other mental illnesses. Our instructor’s aim is to make sure our swimmers leave the swimming pool feeling physically stronger and emotionally lighter. With our small group sessions, children can enjoy the camaraderie of interacting with one another, building social skills, and forging friendships.

 Societal Benefits

Swimming as a sport is also incredibly valuable to society. Here in the UK, a recent Swim England report put the cost-saving to the NHS of swimming at £357m per year. Swimming helps tackle issues such as the obesity crisis, long-term health conditions, and the rise in mental illness.

Fun !!

Finally, and arguably one of the most important benefits, is that swimming lessons are just brilliant fun!  At United Swim School we have developed our exciting Award Scheme to engage students as they embark on their swimming journey. Our specialist and friendly instructors ensure that there is never a dull moment when you are in the pool. Helping build memories that will last a lifetime is what we do.
